It also stimulates the release of aldosterone from the adrenal gland and inhibits adenylate cyclase activity in spontaneously hypertensive rats. Angiotensin II increases the entry of Ca2+ in heart muscle via voltage-sensitive channels and activates myosin light chain kinase (MYLK). It also elicits an increase in voltage-dependent delayed rectifier K+ current in neurons and activates JAK2 in smooth muscle cells. Furthermore, angiotensin II activates FAK (p125FAK) and a cytosolic 115-120 kDa calcium-dependent tyrosine kinase in rat epithelial cells. It also activates c-Src (p60c-src), ERK1/2, JNK, and p38α (p38 MAP Kinase) in vascular smooth muscle cells.
